Rocket Launch Viewing Sites: Cocoa Beach
The only thing better than enjoying a fun and relaxing vacation in Cocoa Beach, is having the opportunity to witness a rocket launch during your stay. The rumble of the launch is the perfect complement to the hum of crashing ocean waves. Cocoa Beach is full of fun attractions, beautiful beaches and â€“ most importantly â€“ incredible views of rockets launching out of Cape Canaveral. Here are some of our favorite spots to watch a launch: 1. Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier Stretching out 800 feet over the Atlantic Ocean, the Historic Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier provides spectacular ocean views and it’s a prime viewing spot for rocket launches. Home to gift shops, live entertainment and delicious restaurants â€“ including the new Rikki Tiki Tavern â€“ the pier is sure to be a fun place to hang out and watch a launch.
2. Alan Shepard Park Named after astronaut Alan Shepard, this beautiful beach spans five acres and is a great place to relax and watch a launch. The park features facilities such as picnic pavilions, showers and restrooms and it is within walking distance to great Cocoa Beach shopping including Ron Jon Surf Shop. Keep in mind, the park does charge a $15 parking fee.
3. Lori Wilson Park With plenty of great amenities including lifeguards, restrooms, pavilions, a playground and more, Lori Wilson Park is easy to access and a great spot to watch a launch. It’s perfect for the entire family and, you can even bring along your furry friend to let them run around the dog park.

4. Sidney Fischer Park Sidney Fischer Park is a family favorite and is ideal for a picnic, a swim in the ocean, a game of volleyball and a beautiful view of a rocket launch. Named after mayor of Cocoa Beach from 1956-1960, this picturesque oceanfront park is sure to make for a relaxing and exciting day when you witness a rocket launch from the shore. This park also charges a $15 parking fee.
5. Any of the Area’s Beautiful Beaches Cocoa Beach has plenty of amazing patches of sand to relax and enjoy the waves or catch a rocket launch. You really can’t go wrong with any of the options, from Coconuts on the Beach which is nestled right in the heart of Downtown and includes a walk-up bar to any of Cocoa Beach’s numbered streets, located just south of where A1A splits.
