Watching a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral is a breathtaking and exhilarating experience that you’ll remember for a very long time. There are countless incredible places to view a launch along Florida’s Space Coast, but some incredible spots can be found in Port Canaveral. Watch from the beach or with a drink in hand at one of the waterfront restaurants, either way you’ll get to experience the awe of seeing that glowing fireball hurl out of Earth’s atmosphere and into outer space.

1. Jetty Park

Rocket launch from Florida from @earthfocus – @aroundq sharing with you guys information on how this shot was taken! This rocket launch was probably my most planned out shot. I used an app called Plan It to figure out the location where I wanted to take the shot. From there you have to scout the location and think of some cool foregrounds. Our options were Cocoa Beach Pier or Jetty Park. The original idea was to get close to the Jetty but it was so dark and just didn't compose well. Then we saw a bunch of people sitting at this life guard station and that's where the idea came in. Next you have to figure out where the launch will be coming from. I was lucky enough to catch it right behind the Life guard station. This is also a 2 shot blend. 1 shot for the foreground and 1 shot of the rocket trail. Explore. Share. If you’re looking for a place where you can have a relaxing day on the beach with the family and where you can watch a launch – Jetty Park is the place to do just that. Not only that, but you can camp, fish and the kids can even play on the park’s playground while you wait for liftoff. This is a great spot to watch a launch and even watch as cruise ships come to and from the Port. Keep in mind it does cost $15 per vehicle ($5 if you live on Florida’s Space Coast) to get in.
